It’s been a long time since I rock n’ roll….

Hi y’all… Great day to write something. When the skies are grey and the air is crisp, nothing like a cup of coffee and the clickadee-click of your computer keyboard.

When the cold starts to settle in, we tend to become a little bit cozier in the house than outside, but that’s all right. However, it is important to start looking at the supplements cabinet to see what is missing or maybe what’s new this year that I should contemplate. Summertime is the best way to replenish our body with all the good nutrients from fresh veggies that we have either cultivated ourselves or bought from our friendly neighborhood farmer. The beginning of September, we accumulated also some good vitamin C from the fresh fruit that we picked ourselves from the apple orchards. What a treat! But here comes winter, even though we don’t feel it should be coming. It’s right around the corner. Less sun, less fresh fruits and vegetables. So we need to start looking for our Multivitamins and also some good vitamin C to give our body a fighting chance against the nasties.

I am blessed… I am blessed because I love what I do (Natural Health Practitioner) and I am so lucky to be part of a company that works for us. I’m talking about Young Living Essential Oils. I joined in 2007 and I have been amazed every year with the quality of their products. And, I am so passionate about the essential oils. It took me a while to join (about 4 months). However, I needed to be sure and I made an intelligent choice: Read all about what they had to say, listen to many CD’s and viewed a lot of DVD’s, but mostly it was the Essential Oils Desk Reference that helped me with my decision of joining this wonderful company. And, every day I enjoy talking about the essential oils. I find sometimes that just a 2 hour session is barely enough to be able to explain what this company and their product can or could do to our world. Ok, now, let’s talk a bit of what we should have around the house to help us with the winter blues and achooes.

First and foremost, Vitamin C. You can get them from oranges, mostly all of your fruits. However, did you know that just by picking an orange (or any fruit that is) from the tree, already 20% of the Vitamin C has vanished in thin air. Then those oranges are lugged into a transport and are sprayed with chemicals and driven thousands of miles before they get to a warehouse in Canada. Then again they are shipped to different provinces, and different stores. When we get our hands on one, it has lost a lot of its precious vitamins. We should also consider that those fruits (vegetables) that we buy from the major stores have been sprayed during their entire growth with pesticides and chemicals to most of the time replacing what good old mother earth is completely diminished by over farming it. So, it is very important, during winter months to get your hands on a good vitamin C and a good multi vitamin.

A B complex is very good to take for people that tend to get the winter blues faster that the rest of the common crowd. A way of knowing if you are lacking vitamin B is if you are starting to have weird and scary dreams at night, you might be in need of vitamin B. So, if you are chased more often than usual by zombies during your sleeping hours, consider a vitamin B complex… lol.

Let’s talk about my passion now…. Essential Oils. My favorite essential oil blend during winter time is of course Thieves. If for any reason someone comes into my house or in contact with me and has any signs of a cold, that evening I will be putting Thieves under my feet and will defuse it for a few days in my house. Twenty minutes, 3 times a day will keep the nasties away. Thieves blend has lemon, rosemary, Eucalyptus Radiata, clove and cinnamon essential oils. Let’s define these oils…diffusion

Lemon essential oil, besides being a picker-upper, when used in aromatherapy is also very good to reduce any symptoms of a cold or cough. To explain what aromatherapy is, it is the art of using essential oils through inhalation (also diffusing) and topical application (through massage, compresses, etc.….). One of our forefathers of Aromatherapy, Jean Valnet, M.D., if you spray the bacteria that causes Meningitis, this one was destroyed within 15 minutes, the Typhoid, within an hour and the Streptococcus Pneumoniae, 3 hours. Even with a solution which there was only .2% of lemon essential oil, the bacteria causing Diphtheria is eliminated and the bacteria causing Tuberculosis is deactivated within 20 minutes. Lemon oil is harvested by cold pressing the rind of the fruit.

Rosemary has been known to be an additive in our day to day cooking. Its essential oil is very versatile. We use it of course for any symptoms of cold, cough, throat aches or congestion. But it is also renowned for any light skin irritations caused by cuts, scratches, open sores or burns. It will give you relief with sore muscles, or to reduce muscular or articular pain associated with a strain. It will also relief gas and abdominal bloating and will ease digestive discomfort. I like to defuse Rosemary because of its woodsy scent. In Ancient Greece, Rosemary was used as incent to protect against infections.

All Eucalyptus have a very strong power over colds and cough. They are also great to ease headaches. This species has been treasured in folk medicine. A 2011 study conducted at Heidelberg University found that Eucalyptus Radiata has the second highest abundance of 1.8 cineole after E. Globulus, which is used for purification.

Clove essential oil is a very powerful oil. It has been used for numbing tooth pain in the dental industry for years. It says that the people of the Ternate Island were free from epidemics until the 16th century, when Dutch conquerors destroyed the clove trees that flourished on the islands. Many of the islanders died from the epidemics that followed. It is exceptionally good to relieve symptoms of cold and cough. It is also used to ease pain related to muscular and articular associated to a strain and rheumatoid polyarthritis. Its ORAC value is 1,078,700µTE/100g, the highest in essential oils.

And Cinnamon Bark essential oil… Usually known as a food enhancer, cinnamon bark was listed in Dioscorides’ De Materia (AD78) Europe’s first authoritative guide to medicines, which became the standard reference work for herbal treatments for over 1,700 years. Its fragrance thought to attract wealth. Used in aromatherapy, cinnamon bark is known to alleviate symptoms of cold and cough. Also very good for upset stomach.

Thieves Blend of essential oils was created by Gary Young from research based on legends about a group of 15th-century thieves who rubbed oils on themselves to avoid contracting the plaque while they robbed the bodies of the dead and dying. When apprehended, the thieves were forced to tell what their secret was and disclosed the formula of the herbs, spices, and oils they used to protect themselves in exchange for a more lenient punishment.

Besides our Thieves Blend of essential oils, Young Living carries a whole line of household, oral care and body care products. You can visit www.youngliving.com/cbconsulting for more information about these products.

Now for the winter blues… my favorite blend of essential oils has to be Joy. The name itself brings a smile to my face… J Gary Young has formulated Joy to help people overcome deep-seated grief and depression. This beautiful blend produces a magnetic energy that brings joy to the heart, mind and soul. It also inspires romance…. Yoohoo…. This blend has a very flowery – fruity smell. It includes 10 essential oils: Bergamot, Ylang Ylang, Geranium, Lemon, Coriander, Tangerine, Jasmine, Roman Chamomile, Palmarosa and of course Rose essential oil. Very soothing. I diffuse it and also wear it as a perfume. One drop on the corner of a lapel or on the neck. That is all what it takes.

I need to pause here because the effectiveness of essential oils cannot be fully understood without some discussion of frequency. Frequency is the measurable rate of electrical energy flow that is constant between any two points. Everything has a frequency. Dr. Robert O. Becker in his book the “The Body Electric” establishes that the human body has an electrical frequency and that much about a person’s health can be determined by its frequency.

IN 1992, Bruce Tainio of Tainio Technology, an independent division of Eastern State University in Cheny, Washington, built the first frequency monitor in the world. Tainio has determined that the average frequency of the human body during the daytime is 62 – 68Hz (A healthy body frequency is 62 – 72 Hz.) When the frequency drops, the immune system is compromised. If the frequency drops to 58 Hz, cold and flu symptoms appear at 55 Hz, diseases like Candida take hold, at 52 Hz, Epstein Bar and at 42 Hz, cancer.

According to Dr. Royal R. Rife, every disease has a frequency. He found that certain frequencies can prevent development of disease and that others would destroy disease. Substances with higher frequency will destroy diseases of a lower frequency. The study of frequencies raises important questions concerning the frequencies of substances we eat breath and absorb. Most pollutants lower healthy frequency. Processed and canned foods have a frequency of zero.

Fresh produce has up to 15 Hz, dry herbs from 12 to 22 Hz, and fresh herbs from 20 to 27 Hz. Essential oils start at 52 Hz and go as high as 320 Hz, which is the frequency of rose oil. This is the point I wanted to make concerning Rose essential oil. Long story but worth it.

Clinical research shows that essential oils have the highest frequency of any natural substance known to man, creating an environment in which disease; bacteria, virus, fungus, etc. cannot live. I am talking about 100% pure, therapeutic grade essential oils. They have to be made with integrity, following strict guidelines, and you can count on Young Living Essential Oils to bring to your home the best of essential oils in the world.
