  • Source Plant: Melaleuca alternifolia comes from a shrub/small tree, originating from Australia. It is a member of the Myrtaceae family.
  • Plant Part Used: Needle-like leaves.

  • Main Constituents: Tea tree’s most active constituents are Terpinen-4-ol and Gamma-Terpinene.

  • Tea tree is a tree or tall shrub that grows in abundance near southeast Queensland, Australia.
  • It thrives when planted along streams and near swampy flats, growing anywhere from 7-20 ft tall.
  • It has a bushy crown, whitish bark, and white fluffy flowers. The flowers are steam distilled along with the grass, to produce more essential oil.
