  • Source Plant: Rosmarinus officinalis comes from the needle-like leaves of a perennial herb belonging to the Lamiaceae family.
  • Plant Part Used: Leaves.

  • Main Constituents: Most active chemical compounds include 1,8-cineole (commonly called eucalyptol) (38-55%); camphor (5-15%), and beta-pinene (4-9%).

  • Related to mint and looking a bit like lavender, rosemary is one of the most commonly found aromatic wild plants of the Mediterranean landscape.
  • Rosemary’s survival in rocky areas is owing to its drought-resistant nature, which requires very little water once it is established.
  • It has leaves like flat pine needles touched with silver and typically grows to a height of 2-6 feet.
  • Rosemary’s leaves are a popular culinary herb, which are often used to flavor roast meats and stuffings.
  • Rosemary is used in various hair products, because it is thought to stimulate and strengthen the hair follicle.

  • To boost a feeling of clarity, add a drop to your hands, rub together, cup over your mouth and nose and inhale for up to a minute.  Or diffuse rosemary oil when your children do their homework.
  • The scent of the oil has been shown to provide relief from the symptoms of throat congestion, colds, sore throats.
