  • Source Plant: Helichrysum Italicum – It is a flowering plant of the daisy family Asteraceae.
  • Plant Part Used: Flower
  • Oil Extraction Method: Steam Distillation
  • Main Constituents: Most active ingredient is Neryl Acetate (3-35%). Other ingredients are Gamma-Curcumene, Alpha-Pinene, Beta-Caryophyllene, Beta-Selinene.

Note:  Its active ingredients are principally sesquiterpenes, monoterpenols, double ketones, diones (7% -14%) as well as ketones (1.5% – 3%).

  • heli-2There are over 600 different species of Helichrysum Italicum, and it’s commonly referred to by other names, such as Everlasting, Immortelle or the Curry Plant.
  • It grows on dry, rocky or sandy ground around the Mediterranean.
  • The stems are woody at the base and can reach 60cm or more in height.
  • The clusters of yellow flowers are produced in Summer, and they retain their color after picking.

  • In the Mediterranean region, Helichrysum has been used for its medicinal properties for thousands of years, especially in countries like Italy, Spain, Turkey, Portugal, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
  • Some sources even report that Helichrysum flowers were dried and offered to the Greek Gods.

  • heli-3Sometimes, this essential oil may be adulterated with other aromatic plants that smell like Helichrysum.  Young Living never does this.
  • The 100% pure and undiluted Helichrysum essential oil is made fully from the flowers of Helichrysum Italicum.
  • Neryl acetate is sensitive to climatic factors at the time of picking the flowers, therefore it needs a high degree of quality and technological equipment to control the process.
  • The essential oil extracted is analyzed by chromatography.  Lots that have lower amounts of the key constituent neryl acetate are not used by Young Living.

Place a saucepan with two inches of water on the stove over medium/low heat.

Place the jar in the saucepan and stir contents until ingredients start to melt.

Once all ingredients are combined, spread on the body and then store in a cool place for later.
