  • Main Constituent: Most active chemical compounds are Limonene, Linalyl Acetate, Linalool, Gamma-Terpinene, and Beta-Pinene.

  • The bergamot tree originated in Italy and Morocco.
  • Citrus bergamiais a small tree that blossoms in the winter season. The juice tastes less sour than lemon, but more bitter than grapefruit.
  • It yields small fruits that ripen from green to yellow.
  • Its extremely sour taste renders it inedible.
  • The best time to harvest bergamot is when it is nearly ripe, rather than fully ripe.
  • Unlike lemons, people don’t use bergamots to make juice. They’re just too sour. But their fragrance is amazing!
  • Bergamots are used in the perfume industry, essential oils and food flavorings.

  • Inhaling bergamot, provides relief from the symptoms of coughs and colds (e.g. congestion, sore throat, etc.)
  • Combine with eucalyptus in a diffuser blend to help alleviate a sore throat.

  • Rubbing temples with 1-2 drops* of bergamot provides pain relief for headaches.

  • Apply 2-4 drops* for local application when experiencing emotional lows that could benefit from a positive boost.

  • Bergamot is photosensitive and requires dilution. Exposing the skin to direct sunlight after application can cause skin to burn or darken, up to 36 hrs later.
  • Do not use undiluted; especially if you have very sensitive skin.
  • Refrain from using more than 3 drops in the bath.

  • Young Living’s Bergamot essential oil has been registered by Health Canada as a natural health product (NHP).
  • This means Health Canada regards it as a naturally occurring substance that is used to restore or maintain good health.
  • Bergamot is identifiable as an NHP, because it has an Natural Product Number (NPN) on its labels.

  • Always use according to label instructions.

  • Mix the following in a bowl and store in a glass spray bottle.
    • 4-5 drops of Young Living Bergamot oil
    • 1 ounce glass spray bottle
    • 1 ounce of distilled alcohol
  • Mix bergamot with the alcohol solution.
  • Shake bottle.
  • Spray pillow 3x, 10 mins before bedtime.
  • Rest your head and drift away on a cloud of sweet-scented bergamot.
